A Video Series on the Current State of Identity Theft in America -UPDATED 5/16/13 |

May 16, 2013 - WNCT TV - a CBS affiliate - in North Carolina is running a series of reports on identity theft this week. The reports discuss how easy it is to become a victim and what you can do to protect yourself. The third video in the series (below) provides information on traditional financial identity theft and what you can do to protect yourself.
NOTE: to watch the videos in series, start with the last video on this page and then move up.
The second video in the series (directly below)shows how ID thieves target data to steal and covers some of the challenges of solving the crime that law enforcement agencies face.
The first report - below - is an interview with North Carolina Attorney General Roy Cooper, and it gives some valuable information and covers some of the more unsettling statistics associated with the crime. As the station makes more videos available, we'll post them here.
