August 6, 2013 - Over the years we've run numerous reports on laws that have just exactly the opposite effect that we would like to see. As anyone who reads us regularly knows, at ACCESS we're very much pro-privacy. But the rules and regulations followed by the federal government with regard to privacy simply don't make any sense. On the one hand, the IRS and the Social Security Administration don't tell you when someone else is using your social security number. On the other hand, it is apparently ok when the NSA seizes all of your email and demands logs of your phone calls from cellular carriers.
The following video report was run by channel 6 in Milwaukee, WI. It is a perfect illustration of the one the primary adversaries that ID theft victims face… the government…, and what happens when privacy regulations are turned against the general public simply so that the government can remain "politically correct."
