There has been much to do about this issue. From COPPA, Children's Online Privacy Protection Act, to Senate Bills, like S.2160 - which would have required companies to obtain parents' consent before selling personal information about their children.
While these actions help draw attention to the problems, regretfully, to fully protect our children's privacy, we as parents are ultimately responsible. It is our responsibility to take appropriate action. Whether it be removing them from marketing lists or installing internet software - it is our actions that will make the difference.
