September 11, 2019 - There are a few days in your life where you know exactly where you were and what you were doing when something happened. For me, I was sitting on an office couch, reading some reports when my business partner at the time called me and said, "They did it! They took the tower down!" I could hear the stress in his voice. I could tell he was almost in tears. And I had no idea what he was talking about. I just knew that something had happened and that I needed to turn on the news. About 60 seconds in, they showed the first tower fall and time seemed to stop.

 Never Forgotten!

Not a single thing that I had planned to do that day mattered any more. The only thing that mattered was getting to the survivors in New York and Washington and helping them.

Yes, I know that issues like 9-11 aren't really something we publish on regularly. We're devoted to credit and financial education. But on this day we'd like to take just a moment and reflect on what happened 18 years ago today. 125 people at the Pentagon died serving our country. And 2,606 civilians died at the World Trade Center for no reason at all!

But that only tells a part of the story on casualties. The people who were first responders on that day continue to get sick and die from diseases that were caused as a direct result of those cowardly attacks. 241 police officers and 200 firefighters have now died from the injuries they sustained while working at the World Trade Center site. And more deaths are expected.

We can never, ever forget what happened on that dark day. And we can never let it happen again.

God bless America, today and every day!
